Play hard! Work hard!
This year's Tusker Safari Sevens was brought into real time, thanks to the technology initiatives of Africa Online and Mecer. The two IT icons partnered together, whereby Africa Online showcased their new Infinity Mobile broadband wireless access service. This was powered by Mecer Xtreme Computer equipment to enable the journalists to process and update their reports in real time at the Press Centre. The event's secretariat also benefitted from this initiative.
 
Most of the journalists using the equipment confessed that this was one of the best things to happen to their profession because this would now make news actually, "News", as they relayed information, ahead of time, back to their offices, and also found it practical to share the same information with other stakeholders.
 
Officials of the Safari Sevens, Africa Online and Mecer all agreed that the whole initiative was a resounding success and would explore ways of collaborating in future to empower the average Kenyan with information and technology.
